Reserve Bank of India (RBI/Bank) invited applications from Indian citizens for Research Officers In Grade B for Department of Statistics and Information Management (DSIM)

Pay Scale: Basic - Rs.13700/- p.m in the scale of Rs.13700-700-20000-EB-700-21400-750-24400 applicable to Officers in Grade B
Notes:
1. No post is reserved for PWD candidate. However, PWD candidates may also apply for the posts but they will not be eligible for any concession except for age and application fee relaxation. PWD may belong to any category (GEN OR UR/SC/ST/OBC).
2. Though there is no vacancy reserved for ST candidates for these posts, they can also apply. However, they will not be eligible for any concession/relaxation except application fee due.
Age: (as on 01-02-2010) : Between 21 and 30 years (candidates must have been born not earlier than 02/02/1980 and not later than 01/02/1989).
Relaxation in the Upper age limit: The relaxation in upper age limit is cumulative as per Govt. of India guidelines.
Educational qualifications : (as on 01/02/2010)
(i) A Master’s Degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade
OR
(ii) Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade and one year post graduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute
OR
(iii) M.Stat. Degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks.
NOTE: FOR SC Candidates, the minimum marks required in Master’s Degree as in items (i). (ii) and (iii) is 50% or an equivalent grade.
Responsibilities: To undertake collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of data from various sources, undertake statistical analysis involving modern statistical/econometric models, empirical testing of data etc.,
Scheme Of Selection: Written Examinations (WE) and Interview.
Written Examination will be held on May 8 (Saturday) and May 9 (Sunday)

Standard of papers would be that of Master’s Degree examination of any Central University in India.
Paper I : Questions would cover probability and statistical methods including probability distribution, analysis of variance, design of experiments, estimation and testing of hypotheses.
Paper II : Questions would cover numerical analysis and computer programming logic; economic statistics and econometrics; sample surveys; stochastic processes; multi variate analysis and non-parametric analysis. There would be sufficient choice for candidates to attempt required number of questions from two or more of these five groups.
Paper III : English: Essay, Précis writing, Comprehension, Business/Office Correspondence.
Note:
(i) Paper II and III of only such candidates, who score sufficiently high marks as decided by the Board in order of merit in Paper I, would be assessed.
(ii) Question papers for ‘WE’ will be set in Hindi and English except Paper III on English. Answers may be written either in Hindi or English except for Paper III on English. Candidates may answer the interview in Hindi or English at their option.
(iii) The number of candidates to be called for interview will be decided by the Board. (iv) Final selection will be on the basis of performance in the ‘WE’ (Paper I, II and Paper III) and interview taken together.
