ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: All the eligibility [qualification, age etc] shall be computed as on 01.03.2010.

Post Code-1: Probationary Officers [JMGS-I]:

Qualification: Graduation with First Class with 60% [SC/ST/PWD candidates – 55%].

Job Profile: General Banking, House keeping, Supervisory functions etc and any other work assigned by the Bank from time to time.

Post Code-2: Probationary Clerks:

Qualification: Pass in 10+2 with 60% [SC/ST/PWD candidates – 55%] OR a pass in Graduation.
Should have studied the local language of the State / Union Territory for which he / she is applying [as I / II / III language] either at SSLC / SSC or 10+2 or Graduation level.

Job Profile:General Banking, House keeping etc and any other work assigned by the Bank from time to time.

NOTE: All the qualifications mentioned should be from a recognized University / Institution.

COMPUTER LITERACY: Operating computer systems in MS-DOS, MS Windows, Basic concepts of Networking & Connectivity, MS Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail etc.] shall be an essential qualification, which a candidate must either possess or acquire within 6 months from the date of joining the Bank.

HINDI KNOWLEDGE: The candidates shall acquire working knowledge of Hindi, if not possessed already, before completion of probationary period.

NATIONALITY / CITIZENSHIP:

A candidate must be either i] a citizen of India or ii] a subject of Nepal or iii] a subject of Bhutan or iv] a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v] a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia & Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) or (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A Candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/interview conducted by the Bank, but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificates issued by the Government of India, are produced.

RELAXATION IN UPPER AGE LIMIT

  1. Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates – by 5 years;
  2. Other Backward Classes candidates – by 3 years;
  3. Persons with Disabilities by 10 years;
  4. All persons who are ordinarily domiciled in Kashmir Division of J&K State during 01.01.80 to 31.12.89 – by  5 years;

PROCEDURE FOR MAKING PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEE / POSTAL CHARGES:

The application fee / postal charges can be paid by;

  1. Directly crediting the amount in any Canara Bank Branch OR
  2. Paying the amount through NEFT in any other Bank.

The procedure for payment of fee is mentioned below;

  1. Directly crediting the amount in any Canara Bank Branch:
    • Take print-out of the Payment Challan from website [Click here to download Payment Challan]
    • Fill the particulars viz, Name, Canara Bank Branch Name, City, Amount, Post Applied for
    • Submit the Fee Payment Challan & amount in any Canara Bank Branch
    • Collect the candidate’s copy of Fee Payment Challan from the Branch. Please check that challan is properly signed & the details of Transaction Id / Message User Reference No. (MUR), Branch Name & DP Code Number, Deposit Date are noted in the challan by the Branch Authorities.
    • Log on to bank website for applying on-line.
  2. Paying the amount through NEFT in any other Bank [If the candidate opts for payment through other Banks]:
    • Fill the NEFT challan as required by the bank with Beneficiary details as follows;

After on-line registration, candidates are requested to write their Registration Number, Name, Date of Birth, Post Applied for on the back of the Payment Challan / NEFT Receipt. Candidates have to submit this original Payment Challan / NEFT Receipt along with Test Call Letter at the time of Written Test.

The application fee / postal charges should be paid on or before 24.04.2010 for Probationary Officer [Post Code–1], Probationary Clerk [Post Code-2]

Payment of fee by Demand Draft / Cheque / Money Orders / Postal Orders etc will not be accepted.

SELECTION PROCEDURE: Written Test + Interview

The written test shall consist of Objective Test & Descriptive Test. The details of test are as follows:

Descriptive Test: Marks – 75, Time – 45 Mins

There will be negative marks for wrong answers in Objective Test. The Descriptive Test is only for qualifying purpose. Bank will decide the minimum cut-off marks for each subject as well as Total Weighted Score [TWS]. Depending on the number of vacancies, such of those candidates who rank sufficiently high in the order of merit in the written test as per the cut off marks decided by the Bank will only be called for interview.

Mere eligibility / admission to the test / pass in the test does not imply that the Bank is satisfied beyond doubt about the candidates’ eligibility and shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. The Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview.

Other details regarding the test will be given to the candidates in the “Acquaint Yourself Booklet”, which will be sent along with the call letter for written examination.

The Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, if necessary. The change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.

The Bank would be free to reject the candidature of any candidate at any stage of the recruitment process, if he / she is found to be ineligible. If appointed, such a candidate may be summarily removed and the fees paid by the ineligible candidates shall be forfeited.

Maximum marks for Interview is 100 for Probationary Officer and Probationary Clerk posts.

The final selection for the above posts shall be on the basis of performance in Written Test and Interview.

However, the Bank reserves its right to change the date of written test, to add/cancel the test Centres and to call the candidates for the test at any other Centre at its discretion, under unforeseen circumstances, if any. The Bank also reserves the right to allot the candidate to any centre other than the one he/she has opted for. The Candidates have to appear for the written test at the allotted Centres at their own expenses. No request for change of Centre will be entertained. The centres mentioned above are for written test only. The Bank will inform the candidates about the date, time & venue for the interviews separately.

SECURITY DEPOSIT [for Probationary Officer]:

The selected candidates for the post of Probationary Officers have to deposit a sum of Rs.25,000/- at the time of joining as Security Deposit. Candidates have to serve for a minimum period of 2 years.

HOW TO APPLY [for all posts]:

The eligible candidates are required to apply ON-LINE through bank’s website www.canarabank.com. The guidelines for filling on-line application are as follows;

  • Candidates should have a valid personal e-mail id. In case, candidate is not having valid e-mail id, he/she should create a new e-mail id. This e-mail id should be valid for the duration of the project.
  • Candidates should have remitted the requisite fee in any branch of Canara Bank and should have details of payment made OR Candidates should have remitted the requisite fee in any other Bank through NEFT and should have details of payment made.
  • Please note that without valid payment details, on-line registration of application will be summarily rejected. For details of payment, check Point No.5.
  • Candidates are required to visit the Bank’s website www.canarabank.com->Careers-Positions Open page and click on the link “Recruitment Project – 2010” and apply for appropriate post. Alternatively, candidates can click the link “Recruitment” scrolling in the “News Update”.
  • The link for registration of application will be open on our website on the dates indicated at the top of this advertisement.
  • After filling in all the required particulars, candidates shall submit the application on-line.
  • There is provision to modify the submitted on-line application. Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct the details in on-line application, if any. This Modification facility shall be available up to the last date for on-line registration. After the last date, no modification will be permitted.
  • Candidates should take utmost care to furnish the correct details while filling in on-line application.
  • Retain a copy of on-line application print out along with Registration Number & Password safely for your records.
  • Candidates applying for more than one post are required to make payment for each post separately and are required to apply on-line for each post separately.
